Principal's Message

By Matthew Lerner, Elmwood Elementary School Principal

Panther Family,

We're thrilled to welcome you to our school community! Myself along with our Assistant Principal Stephanie Hagins are excited to begin our 8th year as the leaders of Elmwood. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for your child's success, and we're excited to embark on this journey with you.

At our school, we're committed to providing a comprehensive and engaging educational experience for every student. We use Bridges Math, a highly effective curriculum that helps students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through hands-on activities, problem-solving, and visual models. This approach not only builds strong math skills but also fosters critical thinking and a love for learning.

For Science and Social Studies, we utilize the TCI Curriculum. TCI's engaging, activity-based approach brings learning to life, encouraging students to actively participate, collaborate, and explore concepts through investigations and interactive lessons. This helps students develop a deep understanding of the world around them and their place within it.

In addition to our robust math program, we've adopted the Wonder Curriculum for our literacy studies. This innovative curriculum sparks curiosity and encourages students to explore the world around them. Through captivating texts, inquiry-based projects, and collaborative activities, students develop strong reading and writing skills.

Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all our students is our top priority. We have a comprehensive anti-bullying policy in place, which is regularly reviewed and reinforced. We educate our students about the importance of respect, empathy, and kindness, and we encourage them to speak up if they ever witness or experience bullying. Our staff is trained to identify and address bullying incidents promptly and effectively, ensuring that every child feels secure and valued.

We understand that each child is unique, and we are dedicated to providing personalized care for all our students. Our teachers and staff are passionate about fostering a supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and growing both academically and emotionally. We strive to build strong relationships with our students and families, working together to ensure that every child reaches their full potential. From academic support to social-emotional guidance, we are here to support your child every step of the way.

We're looking forward to a fantastic school year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. Welcome to the family!
