Principal's Message

Dear Elmwood Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to welcome both new and returning families to the Elmwood Elementary community. Assistant Principal Stephanie Hagins and I are honored to begin our ninth year serving as the leaders of Elmwood. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is the foundation of every child's success, and we look forward to working together to make this a wonderful year for every student.

At Elmwood, our mission is to provide every child with a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment where they are challenged academically, cared for emotionally, and celebrated for who they are. Our instructional programs—including Bridges Math, TCI Science and Social Studies, and the Wonders literacy curriculum—provide students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Our teachers work diligently to meet the individual needs of every learner, helping each child build confidence while reaching their fullest potential.

Just as important as academic success is the well-being of every student. We know children learn best when they feel safe, connected, and supported. That is why we intentionally foster a school culture built on kindness, respect, empathy, and inclusion. Our staff works each day to teach and reinforce social-emotional skills using our Second Step curriculum and morning meeting time. This encourages positive relationships, and helps students develop resilience, responsibility, and confidence. Through proactive support, restorative practices, and our commitment to bullying prevention, we strive to ensure every child feels physically and emotionally safe, valued, and empowered to take risks, ask questions, and grow.

Strong schools are built through strong partnerships with families. We encourage you to stay connected through school events, newsletters, classroom communication, and conversations with your child's teacher. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. It is truly a privilege to serve the Elmwood community, and we look forward to a school year filled with learning, growth, friendship, and memorable experiences.
