John Mills and Elmwood celebrate 100th day of school

John Mills Elementary and Elmwood Elementary first-grade and second-grade students recently celebrated their 100th day of school. Students at Elmwood joined in on the fun by dressing up as 100-year-olds and wearing special t-shirts they made at home. At John Mills, students wore paper hats that said “100 days smarter.” Both buildings had lesson plans centered around the milestone.

At Elmwood, students in Mrs. Marzillo’s kindergarten class counted to 100 and featured several students who dressed up. That class included Juliette Lococo, who was excited for the day. 

“We get to do fun stuff,” said Lococo on what her favorite thing about the day was.

At John Mills, students in Mrs. Hagstom’s class made a necklace with 100 Froot Loops, which they were able to take home and eat. Mrs. Herrera’s class was tasked with writing down what they would do if they had $100. 

“If I had $100 I would go to the pool,” said Lylah Stirgus, a John Mills first grader.

Some students made t-shirts to commemorate the day. One Elmwood student, Joah Ponce, made a shirt that had 100 stickers on it, some of which were spelling out his name.
